It’s not that bad being a virgin — or is it? In the second part of her four article series on UC Berkeley’s hookup culture, staff writer Shannon Najmabadi explores the stigmas and experiences virgins face in the college social scene.
“It used to be hip for guys to take someone’s virginity, but now guys have gotten smart and learned that if you take a girl’s virginity, she will be clingy as fuck and expect a full relationship,” one female student said. “The thinking has changed from ‘I’m going to fuck as many virgins as I can’ to ‘I’ll never fuck a virgin.’”
UC Berkeley Chancellor Robert Birgeneau came out strong against a proposed California constitutional amendment that would limit out-of-state student enrollment at the UC system’s 10 campuses.
I could go on but I believe that these examples show that the matter is very complicated and that Californians benefit enormously both financially and educationally from having a substantial number of out-of-state and international fellow students. At Berkeley, capping the number at 10% would do irreparable harm to Californians.
